Lorry Drivers Please Service Your Vehicles!
What's so hard with the maintenance of these vehicles? I'm starting to get sick and tired of finding the reason I've been stuck in traffic for an hour is due to a broken down lorry. It's all I every hear on the traffic report."Delays due to a broken down lorry". T Raymond ... 13 Aug 2010 19:06
Warranty Direct advert on TV
Is it just coincidence that they use a Rover 75 as the car in their advert for extended warranties, warning you that "cars that are now out of warranty could cost you a fortune if they break down?". -- Mike P ... 11 Aug 2010 09:18
Aftermarket LED Day Running Lights
If these are fitted 500mm or less from the road surface, do they become "fog lights" under the Construction & Use regulations and Vehicle Lighting regulations, and therefore should only be used in "seriously reduced visibility", less than 100m, fog & falling snow, etc.? If these are fitted between 500mm and 1200... 6 Aug 2010 16:02
Zafira B timed interval wipe
Is it possible to add timed interval wiping to a Zafira B if it doesn't already have it? It's an option, and mine (second hand, 1.9 SRi) doesn't seem to have it. If so, is it mechanical or a software mod? Probably the latter. The manual says to push the stalk down, wait until the desired interval is reached... 6 Aug 2010 06:07
Noise From Rear - Possible Fuel Tank
Passat 2004 130 TDi: quite a racket coming from what sounds like the fuel tank area. I'll have to get under it at the weekend and investigate, but it sounds like the rear o/s area. If I boot it, it goes away for a second or two and comes back. Car runs and drives fine, no fuel issues. Could this be the lift pump... 6 Aug 2010 05:01

These new silver multi-use fuel cans
I have noticed that the plastic spare plastic fuel cans are now only available in silver, with a panel on the label, where you tick a box to indicate what fuel is inside. They used to be colour-coded, red for leaded petrol, green for unleaded petrol and black for diesel oil. I appreciate the manufacturers' reaso... 26 Jul 2010 06:14
Bumper scuff repair
Just looked at a car and it was almost mint apart from a scuff on a black plastic bumper. It wasn't mega deep, maybe 1-2mm but over quite an area. Has anyone had such repaired? If so what were the results like and how much did it cost? Rick ... 13 Jul 2010 09:49
Diesel Smoke
I just wondered if anyone else had noticed that diesel cars seem to be producing more smoke than they used to? When they reduced the sulphur content and produced the 'city diesel' mixes years ago there was a big reduction in smoke but of late it seems to be getting worse. Gio ... 16 Jul 2010 18:50
Vauxhall Ampera - would you consider one?
http://fwd.five.tv/fifth-gear/blog/vauxhall-ampera Basically an electric car with a small low powered petrol engine to keep the battery charged if you exceed the 40 mile range. This sounds like a far more sensible drive train than the sort you find in a pious - the engine can be tuned to be run continually at i... 7 Jul 2010 01:32
Removing rivets
On Jun 22, 9:04 pm, "Stephen" <n...(a)none.com> wrote: Hi Chaps, I'm trying miserably to change the speakers in my daughter orrible Clio but the speakers are rivets on to the inner door skin. How do you get the rivets off without breaking the plastic speaker surround? Wouldn't you be better off askin... 7 Jul 2010 14:38
Parking on a white line
Where a road narrows to a single lane just before ending in a cul-de-sac (dead end) there is a single *white* line painted on the road on the side of the road where the houses are. The line is there presumably because if people park there, its very difficult for cars to turn in and out of their driveways becau... 28 Jun 2010 03:03

What car could this be?
My mum's seen a car she likes up North. She failed to look at the badge, and asked me the other day what it might be. It's "modern". Small, "round", reminds her of an A40 and has a "proper defined boot". Any clue? I've looked through What Car online and can't seem to find what the hell she is talking about. ... 14 Jun 2010 18:32
