Do prats insist on fitting cars with "economy" tyres?

I've taken delivery of my new commuter hack. The previous owner has
fitted it with "Nexen" tyres. There are no words in the English language
for how shite these tyres are.

And what did he save? Well, he paid 90 per tyre which he regarded as "a
saving". I can get General UHP all-season mud and snow for 96 and Toyo
AT for 120 (inc VAT, fitting, balancing, made up old tyre tax and
everything else the fitters can think up to charge me for).

How pikey does one have to be to consider it's worth risking one's life
buying substandard tat?

I've got Colway remoulds on the SD1 and they're very, very good. Far
better than these 'no name' new brands. Cheaper, too. But they went bust -
punters seem to prefer new tat to quality re-manufactured.

That's a waste of a perfectly good room.

A lot of them believe the tyre fitters who tell them that they are fine when
they are competing for business purely on price.
They'd much rather sell a couple of cheapies and make thirty quid (or
whatever the margin is) then fail to sell some quality tyres at a potential
profit of an extra tenner.
