My instructor used to have the pupil drive to the location of the next pupil and pick them up. They'd swap over and the just picked up pupil would drive the other home thus ensuring everyone got their full hour and he had no downtime travelling from customer to customer. He used to use the time on the journey home for the pupil who's lesson had just finished to allow them to observe another pupil and spot the mistakes.
