Apparently the 90 minutes each morning and afternoon aren't enough for
some. Now it seems there are more parents/carers (who *should* be
able to look out for themselves near a road?) and children (why are
they there?) outside those hours, seemingly necessitating the all-day
speed curfew.

No mention of the impact on the road toll, before 40km zones were
implemented or after the permanent limit is in place.

Lots of talk about fines though.

And the council guy says they are concerned about cost to change the signs.

It's all about the money folks.

Already in up here around Darwin in some places. Schools is out at 2:30pm
and no-one around after 3-3:30 but restriction until 5 just up the road from
me. Expensive and big automatic LED signs installed.

Police issued fines to motorists caught travelling at almost 70km/h in
school zones during traffic operations in Warwick and Bunbury on Tuesday.

Earlier this month, a 44-year-old car salesman was sacked after he was
caught driving at 101km/h in a 40km/h zone.

But,

was he sacked for going 101 kph through a 40 kph zone

or was he sacked because he was doing 101 kph in a car which might not have
been his own, maybe giving it a squirt up the road to see how it went,.

Also, what time of the day was he caught going 101 kph?

3 pm, or 3 am ?

Ummmm I'd suggest that the fact that he was "caught" means that the 40
zone was active and he was dramatically exceeding the posted limit.
