I see two cars painted in different shades of red. As a result, no
possible conclusion can be reached about the "richness" of the finish.

I take it you did this test double blind, so that neither you nor the
person who wired the thing up new which leads were which? How many
times did you do the experiment?

So, you managed to find the red car, now go down just a little to the darker
colourd car - you will notice a totally different finish. Come back when you
have managed to do this simple task.

I swapped them over a period of weeks, then chose the pair that sounded
better to me. My son has no interest in HiFi past an Ipod, so I got him to
listen while I swapped the leads. His comments were similiar to mine. I tried
the same with my wife who has zero interest in HiFi - she also commented on
one pair sounding 'wider' than the other. She also commented on how vocals
seemed closer to her with one pair than the other.

Whatever the reason, one pair give a more pleasing sound, on my system, than
the other pair.
